Jamiatul Qasim Darul Uloom-il-Islamia, a prominent Islamic institute of Bihar organizes fasting for the students and teachers on the day of Ashura every year in Supaul district. There is a great merit of this fast in the holy Hadis. By the virtue of this fast, it is narrated that minor sins of one year are forgiven. There are several Hadis related to the fasting of Ashura and Muharram-ul-Haram. That's why the students and teachers of Jamiatul Qasim Darul Uloom-il-Islamia perform fasting today on 9th Muharram-ul-Haram (1445).
On this auspicious occasion, prayers were specially offered for peace and safety in the country and for all the benefactors and supporters of Jamiatul Qasim before breaking the fast at Jame-al-Imam Muhammad Qasim Al-Nanotwi. Below is a beautiful scene of students at the time of iftaar.

Muharram-ul-Haram is the first month according to Islamic calendar. This month has great importance. Many significant events in the history of Islam have occurred in this month. The merit of 10th Muharram-ul-Haram, which is called Ashura, has been narrated in Holy Hadis. We are insisted to fast on this day. The Prophet SAW said regarding the fast of Ashura, "I hope that the sins of one year will be erased."
During the life of Hazrat Maulana Dr Mufti Mahfoozur Rahman Usmani RA, founder of Jamia, fasting has been observed in Jamiatul Qasim on the occasion of Ashura. Alhamdulillah, the students and teachers offered two fasts of Ashura this year and a collective iftar and prayer meeting was organised as well.
Earlier, Qari Zafar Iqbal Madni, rector of Jamiatul Qasim said to develop the spirit of Hussain in you who sacrificed his everything for the elevation of Islam and got martyred. The same spirit and passion of sacrifice is needed even today. Without it, success and excellence cannot be achieved.
In this prayer meeting, prayers were specifically offered for the country and the nation, and for the benefactors and supporters.
